Take on the challenge of running the length of the River Tyne.

The Tyne Trail Ultra is a Race Series offering two fully supported challenges that start from both sources at the North Tyne and the South Tyne and follow the course of the mighty River till it reaches the Sea.

Encompassing a wonderful variety of terrain and scenery in Northumberland & Cumbria, the routes pass through sparsely populated landscapes, forests, farmland and delightful villages whilst also taking in vestiges of Roman and early Christian heritage, the region’s proud railway history as well as the regeneration and transformation of one of the world’s most foremost shipbuilding regions.

An annual event, the Tyne Trail Ultra alternates each year between the North Tyne & South Tyne Trails. For 2020, the South Tyne Trail 70km is on offer, finishing at the Meeting of the Waters at Warden. If you want to run the full distance from source to sea, then you’ll have to wait until 2021 when Tyne Trail Ultra will start from the North Tyne River and finish at Tynemouth, a total distance of 150km.
