Tyne Trail South – 28th April 2018

The River South Tyne is born in the North Pennines and offers a very different landscape to that of the North Tyne Trail. The route shows the rivers’ many different moods from tinkling trickle to majestic wilderness as it passes through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) that includes waterfalls and deep ravines, making it’s way towards the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ at Warden, which is also the finish for the 70km challenge. Departing Warden, the route continues towards the industrial heritage of Tyneside and the full distance race finish at South Shields, a total of 140km.

Starting from Garrigill, this fully supported 70km challenge finishes at the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ at Warden where the North & South Tyne come together to form the River Tyne.
